Weighing the Options

Pros and cons of a destination wedding in Málaga

I'll always give you the honest picture. Here's what I tell couples when they ask me about Málaga.

What I love about it

  • A long wedding season with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
  • A wide variety of venues, from seaside hotels and beach clubs to cortijos and private country estates.
  • An international airport with excellent connections across Europe.
  • Beautiful settings for outdoor ceremonies, dinners and welcome events.
  • Plenty for guests to see and do, making it easy to turn the wedding into a longer holiday.

What to keep in mind

  • July and August can be extremely hot, especially for guests who are not used to the Spanish climate.
  • Accommodation prices rise during the summer and other busy holiday periods.
  • Popular venues in Málaga and Marbella can book up early and may come with higher minimum spending requirements.
  • Málaga has excellent flight connections with Europe, but guests travelling from other parts of the world will usually need a connecting flight.

Timing It Right

The best time to get married in Málaga

MAR – MAY
Spring

Spring brings warm temperatures, blooming gardens and comfortable evenings. April and May are especially good for outdoor weddings, before the intense summer heat arrives.

JUN – AUG
Summer

June offers reliable sunshine and long evenings, while July and August can be extremely hot. If you choose the middle of summer, a late ceremony and shaded venue will make the experience more comfortable for your guests.

SEP – OCT
Autumn

September and October remain warm enough for outdoor celebrations, with softer light and more comfortable temperatures. Early autumn is one of the best times for a wedding on the Costa del Sol.

NOV – FEB
Winter

Winters are generally mild and sunny during the day, although evenings can be cool. This season can work well for an intimate celebration and may offer better availability than spring or autumn.
